1. Who We Are

49Tax (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online service that helps individuals generate portal-ready ITR JSON files for income tax filing in India. We are accessible at 49tax.ai.

2. Data We Collect

When you use 49Tax, we may collect the following information:

  • Email address (optional, provided by you for filing receipts)
  • PAN, name, date of birth, address, and contact details (entered by you for ITR generation)
  • Income, deduction, and TDS details (entered by you or extracted from uploaded documents)
  • Uploaded documents such as Form 16, rent receipts, loan statements, and investment proofs
  • Payment transaction details processed through Razorpay

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To extract tax-relevant information from your uploaded documents using AI (Google Gemini)
  • To compute your tax liability and compare old vs new tax regimes
  • To generate portal-compatible ITR-1 or ITR-2 JSON files
  • To process your payment through Razorpay
  • To send you a filing receipt (if you provided your email)

We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to generating your ITR file.

4. AI Document Processing

Uploaded documents are processed using Google Gemini AI to extract income, deduction, and TDS information. Document content is sent to Google's API for extraction only and is not stored by Google for training or other purposes beyond processing your request.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

All session data — including uploaded documents, extracted information, and generated ITR files — is automatically deleted after 7 days from session creation. You may also request immediate deletion of your data at any time from within your filing session.

6. Data Security

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption)
  • Sensitive fields like PAN are redacted in server logs
  • Session tokens are hashed before storage
  • We never ask for your income tax portal login, password, or OTP
  • Uploaded files are stored in encrypted cloud storage and auto-deleted after the retention period

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Razorpay — for processing payments. Razorpay's privacy policy governs payment data handling.
  • Google Gemini — for AI-based document extraction.
  • Mixpanel — for anonymous product usage analytics (no PII is shared).
  • Cloudflare — for performance and security analytics.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request immediate deletion of your session data
  • Choose not to provide optional information (such as email)
  • Contact us with questions about your data

9. Cookies

49Tax uses minimal cookies required for the service to function. We use Mixpanel for anonymous analytics. No advertising cookies or trackers are used.
